Gibraltar’s Ocean Village ‘open to all’
Last Thursday saw a number of members from the Senior Citizens Association payng a visit to Gibraltar’s Ocean Village where they received a presentation of the new leisure and lifestyle centre.
In a press release over the weekend, the centre’s developers say Ocean Village, which recently opened its doors to the public, is keen to welcome all to the complex. They say the Gibraltar Senior Citizens Association (GCSA) are only one group out of a number, who have been invited to enjoy informal tours at the newly developed Marina.
Other groups visiting this week have included educational visits from Westside Comprehensive School’s ‘A’ Level Business Studies students and GCSE Business Studies students from Bayside Comprehensive School. The students were not only keen to take a tour of Ocean Village and find out about its commercial workings but also appeared mostly excited to hear of KFC’s imminent arrival to the Rock!
In contrast, the GSCA’s senior citizens sampled a walk along the Piers, Pods and Promenades housing the restaurants, bars and shops and enjoyed views of Leisure Island which will accommodate the Gala Casino, a champagne bar and nightclub amongst other facilities, including an open air entertainment area.
Commenting on the tour, one GSCA member said:
“You’ve opened my eyes! You can’t tell how wonderful this is from the outside.
It’s certainly an achievement for Gibraltar.”
Ocean Village is growing in popularity with more and more visitors walking around the complex and taking in the environment every week.
The first of the complex’s restaurants, called ‘Water Margin’, was opened a couple of weeks ago. This will soon be followed by a number of other leisure facilities over the next month.
